Responsibilities
- Architect and implement firmware for embedded systems, including low-level drivers, communication protocols, and application logic.
- Collaborate with product definers, hardware engineers, QA, and product teams to ensure firmware compatibility with hardware designs.
- Develop comprehensive firmware test plans and procedures.
- Debug hardware/firmware integration issues using debugging tools and analyze firmware behavior.
- Maintain and support existing firmware by troubleshooting and resolving reliability and performance issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and guide firmware and software development best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in firmware development, embedded systems, and related areas.
- Proficiency in C and assembly language; Python or other scripting-language experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, and other embedded hardware architectures.
- Experience with bare-metal programming and RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
- Experience writing low-level drivers for peripherals such as UART, SPI, I2C, and PWM.
- Knowledge of communication protocols including ZigBee and BLE.
- Proficiency with JTAG, GDB, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other debugging tools.
- Understanding of secure firmware development and firmware over-the-air updates.
- Ability to work with Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
- Experience with unit, system, and integration testing and isolating issues in a system-test environment.
