Responsibilities
- Lead the technical strategy and architecture of Reddit's next-generation search engine.
- Collaborate with product engineers to deliver high-quality search experiences.
- Define best practices for observability and operational excellence in distributed systems.
- Mentor engineers in designing scalable search infrastructure.
- Work with infrastructure and ML teams to adapt the search platform for user needs.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering focused on cloud-native search systems.
- 3+ years in technical leadership and architecting distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in lexical and vector retrieval technologies.
- Skilled in designing cloud-native architectures using Kubernetes and AWS/GCP.
- Proven track record in building real-time data pipelines and hybrid search architectures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical challenges into strategies.
