Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex mobile software solutions for Garmin products and applications.
  • Serve as a lead software engineer on complex projects and review architected modules and software systems.
  • Decompose functional requirements into well-defined tasks and contribute to project leadership, planning, schedules, and technical risk assessment.
  • Conduct peer technical assessments, code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced Software Engineer 1 and Software Engineer 2 employees.
  • Contribute to advanced technical research, process improvements, new procedures, and evaluation of new technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency developing complex software with Kotlin, Java, Swift, or other selected languages.
  • Experience developing Android and/or iOS mobile applications using native platform SDKs.
  • Experience designing well-architected software systems and modules and serving as a lead software engineer for complex projects.
  • Understanding of object-oriented design principles, software architecture, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, technical assessment, requirements decomposition, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Preferred experience includes consumer-facing Android or iOS applications, Jetpack Compose, SwiftUI, UIKit, Android SDK, Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy, REST-based APIs, cloud-connected services, Unity, Unreal Engine, WebGL, Three.js, mentoring, technical leadership, and Agile development.
