Base Salary
$163k - $214k/yr
Responsibilities
- Provide architectural direction and technical leadership for real-time control systems across hardware and firmware teams.
- Design ARM SoC system controllers, including user-space drivers, libraries, and reusable quantum-control frameworks.
- Develop production-quality C/C++ and Rust software, including data acquisition pipelines and control algorithms.
- Implement robust control loops with reliable error handling for precision instruments.
- Lead board testing and hardware bring-up in collaboration with hardware engineers.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical coaching.
- Improve development processes, tooling, infrastructure, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Represent the team in cross-functional technical reviews and strategic planning.
Requirements
- BS/MS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science with 8–12 years of experience, or a PhD with 8+ years of related work experience.
- Must meet the stated U.S. export-control eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or qualifying refugee or asylee.
- Demonstrated mastery of complex embedded-system architecture and designing software systems from the ground up.
- Deep understanding of hardware-software interfaces including TCP, UART, and MMAP, plus low-level systems programming.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using profilers, debuggers, and simulation tools.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions across multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort working in a laboratory setting.
- Preferred qualifications include production Rust experience, embedded Linux and C/C++ systems programming, control theory, DSP, fixed-point algorithms, SoC/FPGA systems, Linux kernel and device-driver development, Python, laboratory equipment, and embedded testing infrastructure.
