Responsibilities
- Build Android features in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose across app, media, and shared platform modules.
- Translate product requirements and Figma designs into accessible, production-ready UI consistent with iOS.
- Design maintainable feature architecture within a modular Android codebase.
- Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs with resilient networking, state management, caching, and clear failure states.
- Improve performance, startup behavior, crash-free sessions, reliability, build time, delivery throughput, code quality, and engineering efficiency.
- Partner with Product, Design, iOS, Backend, QA, and Test Engineering on requirements, technical plans, and test coverage.
- Monitor rollouts and production behavior using Firebase, Datadog, crash reporting, analytics, and release health signals.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventative follow-up work.
- Conduct pull request reviews, mentor engineers, and establish scalable engineering patterns.
- Use GitHub Copilot or similar GenAI assistants for implementation, refactoring, testing, debugging, and documentation while validating output through tests, review, static analysis, observability checks, and secure coding practices.
- Follow internal AI usage, repository, data-handling, and review standards.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of professional experience building production Android applications.
- Strong expertise in Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, coroutines, and modern Android architecture.
- Experience with modular Android codebases, shared core modules, design systems, and established architectural patterns.
- Strong REST and GraphQL integration experience, including error handling, asynchronous state management, and API contract collaboration.
- Experience with unit, integration, snapshot, and UI testing, including running tests in CI.
- Experience diagnosing production issues with logs, metrics, crash reporting, analytics, and observability tools.
- Familiarity with push notifications, deep links, widgets, feature flags, experimentation, and release management.
- Strong Git workflow, code review, and written communication skills.
- Practical experience using GenAI developer tools and reviewing, adapting, testing, and explaining generated code.
- Experience with high-traffic consumer applications, media or real-time data, and large shared repositories is preferred.
- Technical leadership experience with mentoring, architecture reviews, and cross-team delivery is preferred.
- Familiarity with responsible GenAI practices, including prompt and context hygiene, AI-assisted test creation, and evaluating generated code quality is preferred.
