Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python software components, scripts, utilities, and small enhancements in existing codebases.
- Support integration of software with hardware, firmware, instruments, and embedded platforms.
- Develop and test basic device-control, instrument workflow, and software-to-device communication functionality.
- Work with HTTP, JSON, REST APIs, WebSocket, and TCP/IP communication.
- Operate in Linux and embedded Linux environments, including troubleshooting processes, services, logs, networking, and system configuration.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, functional, regression, and automated tests using Python-based tools.
- Analyze test results, logs, exceptions, and failures; reproduce defects and assist with root-cause analysis.
- Use NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib for data processing, analysis, visualization, and engineering test activities.
- Use Git workflows involving branches, commits, pull requests, code reviews, and documentation.
- Document software changes, test results, issues, and troubleshooting steps while collaborating with Software, Firmware, Systems, and SQA teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Good programming knowledge in Python and a basic understanding of object-oriented programming, software development, and debugging.
- Basic knowledge of Linux, Git, HTTP, JSON, and APIs.
- Willingness to work on software and hardware/software integration and to learn unfamiliar technologies and codebases.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, learning, collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
- Academic or personal Python project experience is preferred.
- Exposure to Django or other Python frameworks, REST APIs, WebSocket, TCP/IP, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Linux, Raspberry Pi, embedded systems, or Python-based test automation is preferred.
- Exposure to unit testing, pytest, databases, SQL, or CI/CD tools is preferred.
- Academic experience involving instrumentation, electronics, sensors, laboratory equipment, or device integration is preferred.
