Base Salary
$500k - $850k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, run, and interpret large-scale experiments on agent teams.
- Investigate performance, efficiency, compute allocation, and bottlenecks as agent teams scale.
- Build and scale reliable systems for running very large agent teams and debug failures at scale.
- Design trustworthy evaluations for long-horizon problems.
- Build tooling and metrics that make agent-team behavior understandable to researchers.
- Partner with research teams across Anthropic to enable experiments and communicate findings.
Requirements
- Significant software engineering, ML, or research engineering experience.
- End-to-end ownership of a substantial system, evaluation, benchmark, agent product, or research project.
- Ability to combine research and engineering, reason quantitatively about complex systems, and work from ambiguous questions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a results-oriented approach.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a relevant field, though formal education credentials are not required for strong candidates.
- Preferred experience with large-scale distributed systems, schedulers, sandboxed code execution, inference or RL infrastructure, LLM or agent evaluations, scaling laws, or complex agentic systems.
- Preferred background in operations research, statistics, economics, physics, quantitative finance, or another field focused on modeling and optimizing complex systems.
- Prior academic research, publication history, multi-agent-systems experience, and reinforcement-learning experience are not required.
