Responsibilities
- Build full-stack product features and subsystems using Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Vue 3, SvelteKit, and TypeScript.
- Own key parts of the micro-frontend migration to Vue 3 while maintaining the existing SvelteKit application.
- Design scalable GraphQL schemas, batch loading, and query complexity controls for high-traffic multi-tenant systems.
- Develop event-driven microservice communication using EventBridge and SQS, with reliable asynchronous processing and idempotency.
- Evolve and optimize the Lambda-backed worker framework supporting more than 400 workers.
- Architect multi-tenant data strategies across MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis while maintaining tenant isolation and compliance.
- Create Terraform modules and GitLab CI/CD pipelines for multi-environment and multi-region deployments.
- Own major subsystem evolution, define solutions to complex technical problems, conduct architecture reviews, and write Architecture Decision Records.
- Provide technical direction, establish engineering patterns through code reviews, and guide senior engineers and cross-team initiatives.
- Translate strategic goals into technical roadmaps with Product, Security, and Infrastructure teams.
- May serve as technical lead for larger sub-projects or entire small projects.
Requirements
- BS or equivalent plus 10 years of experience, MS or equivalent plus 5 years of experience, or Ph.D. or equivalent plus 4 years of experience.
- 5+ years scaling production Ruby on Rails applications.
- Expertise with GraphQL, including batch loading and query complexity management, and relational database tuning with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Strong proficiency with modern component frameworks and strict TypeScript; Vue 3 is preferred, SvelteKit is highly valued, and React is transferable.
- Experience with Vite, Tailwind CSS, AWS services, Terraform, and GitLab CI/CD.
- Experience designing event-driven architectures and managing asynchronous processing at scale, including eventual consistency, idempotency, and failure handling.
- Demonstrated Staff-level technical leadership, including ADRs, cross-team design, and work in compliance-regulated environments.
- Comfort using AI coding tools such as Claude or Claude Code.
- Preferred qualifications include leading front-end framework migrations, scaling Rails under real traffic, operating serverless background-processing frameworks, DynamoDB and Redis data modeling, and integrating AI tooling into engineering workflows.
