Responsibilities
- Build and refine controls that prevent Wise customers from scams.
- Develop backend and frontend systems for scam prevention and detection, with approximately 80% backend and 20% frontend work.
- Design and operate scalable web applications, distributed systems, concurrent systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Own projects end to end, make data-driven decisions, and increase automation in financial crime prevention.
- Work with relational and non-relational databases, including query optimization and resilient schema design.
- Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Investigations teams.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of professional experience with Java and the Spring framework.
- Experience building and designing scalable web applications that handle large amounts of traffic.
- Experience with React-based frontend applications and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and distributed and concurrent systems.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and resilient schema design.
- Strong product ownership, accountability, independent project execution, data-driven decision-making, and customer focus.
- Strong problem-solving, coding fundamentals, test-driven development, and software engineering practices.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts across teams.
- Familiarity with the machine learning lifecycle, data pipelines, feature engineering, and deploying ML systems to production is a plus.
