Responsibilities
- Act as the primary interface between U.S. Forward-Deployed teams and the Japan-based Platform Core team.
- Synthesize and communicate field priorities, urgency, constraints, team sentiment, intent, and trade-offs.
- Influence platform roadmap and product strategy using real-world usage and field needs.
- Ensure the Platform Core team prioritizes high-value problems and Forward-Deployed teams maximize platform leverage.
- Define and maintain priorities, milestones, and success criteria across regional workstreams.
- Manage dependencies, risks, and trade-offs between Forward-Deployed and Platform Core initiatives.
- Establish execution cadence across time zones, including planning, check-ins, and reviews.
- Ensure accountability and follow-through on key initiatives.
- Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, and prioritization decisions.
- Improve documentation, communication cadence, and decision-making frameworks for global collaboration.
Requirements
- Near-native proficiency in both English and Japanese, including nuanced technical context and trade-offs.
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience with strong system design and implementation exposure.
- At least 4 years of experience as a Software Engineer in a U.S.-based organization where English was the primary language for technical work.
- Strong understanding of modern software architecture, APIs, backend systems, and data models.
- Ability to operate across product, engineering, and implementation contexts.
- Experience working with distributed or cross-border teams.
- Strong communication skills for conveying context, intent, priorities, and rationale.
- Preferred experience in platform engineering or building extensible systems.
- Preferred familiarity with ERP, supply chain systems, complex business applications, SaaS integrations, or composable/headless architectures.
- Preferred background in solution architecture or technical program management.
- Preferred startup or high-growth company experience.
- Preferred familiarity with Go, Rust, and/or TypeScript.
