Sr Java Software Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality Java software for live electricity market operations.
- Own the software lifecycle from architecture and solution design through coding, testing, deployment, and support.
- Optimize distributed systems involving transactions, caching, message queues, REST endpoints, JVM performance, and database queries.
- Translate electricity-market rules and regulatory requirements into reliable, scalable software with business and domain experts.
- Contribute to code-quality, software-design, and CI/CD standards while sharing technical knowledge.
- Troubleshoot full-stack issues involving concurrency, database performance, and system integrations.
Requirements
- Solid hands-on experience with Java 17+ and the Spring Boot ecosystem, including dependency injection, transactions, multithreading, concurrency, and aspect-oriented programming.
- Strong Hibernate/JPA experience with transactional behavior, query optimization, persistence practices, and L1/L2 caching.
- Experience designing, developing, securing, and integrating REST APIs.
- Knowledge of web security fundamentals, OWASP principles, and secure authentication and authorization flows.
- Proficiency with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL relational databases, including query tuning and transactional integrity.
- Experience with JVM and database-query profiling and performance optimization.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Experience with distributed applications, JMS/MQ messaging, Flowable/BPMN workflow engines, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD, Helm, Angular, TypeScript, Bash, Batch, or Groovy is preferred.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required; professional experience and achievements are emphasized.
