Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the internal design backend API and qubit design framework, including code quality, testing, releases, documentation, and CI/CD.
- Develop parametric components and layout primitives in collaboration with chip designers.
- Extend and harden the export pipeline for electromagnetic and circuit simulation tools.
- Build automation for large-scale, hierarchical chip layouts with physical-design and scale-up engineers.
- Support internal users through onboarding, debugging, API design, and converting recurring problems into product features.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional Python development experience with strong software engineering fundamentals, including testing, packaging, versioning, CI/CD, and code review.
- Experience building and maintaining a library or framework used by other engineers, with an emphasis on clean, documented APIs.
- Experience with computational geometry or CAD/layout data such as GDSII, polygons, and transformations, or willingness to learn quickly.
- Ability to collaborate with hardware engineers and translate their needs into software.
- Fluent English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred experience with gdstk, gdsfactory, KLayout, or other layout tooling; electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS/AEDT or Palace; or superconducting circuits, RF/microwave engineering, or semiconductor design automation (EDA).
