Base Salary
$230k - $334k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set multi-year technical strategy and architecture for Infrastructure Services across compute, network and edge, and stateful services.
- Define infrastructure patterns, standards, guardrails, and developer platform abstractions used by internal teams.
- Represent Infrastructure Services in cross-functional reviews with engineering, product, security, and finance leadership.
- Serve as an escalation point for major incidents and drive organization-wide improvements to incident management, reliability targets, and disaster recovery.
- Lead cloud cost, capacity, performance, and efficiency strategy with measurable goals.
- Build automation and AI-assisted operations capabilities to reduce operational toil.
- Write design documents, prototype solutions, review complex designs, and automate operational workflows at fleet scale.
- Mentor Staff and Senior engineers and help improve design review, hiring, and technical talent development.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ownership of infrastructure strategy or architecture spanning multiple teams or an entire organization, with measurable multi-year outcomes.
- Production-scale Kubernetes experience in multi-cluster, multi-tenant, customer-traffic-bearing environments, preferably with EKS or a similar managed platform.
- Working fluency in networking, edge services, and stateful data systems, with understanding of their interactions.
- Experience defining and driving adoption of SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident response practices, post-incident learning, and disaster recovery.
- Demonstrated measurable cloud cost reduction through capacity automation, right-sizing, architecture changes, or commitment strategy, including collaboration with finance.
- Experience building security into infrastructure through workload identity, least-privilege IAM and RBAC, credential rotation, and strong multi-tenant isolation.
- Proficiency in Go or a similar programming language and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
- Strong technical communication and influence skills, including strategy documents, design reviews, senior-leadership presentations, and resolving technical disagreements.
- Experience mentoring Senior and Staff engineers and shaping hiring and technical evaluation practices.
- Bonus experience with service mesh, service-to-service networking, scalable databases, internal developer platforms, AI-assisted operations, highly available multi-region SaaS services, or security and identity products.
