Base Salary
$160k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own geometric map-generation algorithms for sensor optimization, pose-graph optimization, and multimodal alignment.
- Root-cause system failure modes and ship algorithmic fixes with measurable success criteria.
- Improve the runtime and scalability of large-scale distributed map-build pipeline stages.
- Collaborate with neighboring teams to define data contracts and integration requirements.
- Process large-scale lidar logs into automated offline maps for the Aurora Driver.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of professional software development experience in C++ with a track record of leading technically ambiguous, multi-quarter projects.
- Hands-on experience with 3D geometry and point-cloud processing, including registration, pose-graph or nonlinear least-squares optimization, surface reconstruction, or lidar-based SLAM/mapping.
- Strong knowledge of linear algebra, spatial transforms, numerical optimization, and probability.
- Experience debugging and improving data quality across large datasets or pipelines.
- Experience with HD maps or map-building systems for autonomous vehicles or robotics is desirable.
- Experience applying computer vision or semantic segmentation to geometric problems is desirable.
- Experience with large-scale distributed data processing and performance optimization is desirable.
- Familiarity with geospatial concepts such as coordinate frames, map projections, and tiling schemes is desirable.
- Proficiency in Python is desirable.
