Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable services and applications supporting infrastructure planning.
- Translate ambiguous business and engineering requirements into technical designs and implementation plans.
- Build backend services, APIs, data-processing workflows, integrations, and production applications incorporating analytical and machine-learning outputs.
- Design for scalability, availability, security, maintainability, observability, and operational efficiency.
- Own software across its lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.
- Diagnose production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Define interfaces and data contracts across software, data, and machine-learning components.
- Partner with data scientists, machine-learning engineers, infrastructure experts, domain experts, product stakeholders, and business stakeholders.
- Participate in architecture, design, code, and operational-readiness reviews.
- Establish engineering patterns, development standards, and best practices; mentor engineers and raise technical quality.
- Communicate technical decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations to engineering leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Eight or more years of professional software-development experience.
- Significant experience designing and delivering production software systems.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Python, Go, C++, or another modern programming language.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and software-design principles.
- Experience designing distributed systems, backend services, APIs, or data-intensive applications.
- Experience with relational or non-relational databases and proficiency with SQL.
- Experience developing, testing, deploying, and operating software in Linux and cloud environments.
- Experience troubleshooting complex systems and resolving production issues.
- Ability to lead technical design and execution across multiple components or workstreams.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, networking, capacity planning, resource planning, supply planning, or other large-scale operational domains is preferred.
- Experience with containers, Kubernetes, service-oriented or microservice architectures, workflow orchestration, event-driven systems, batch-processing systems, or distributed data-processing platforms is preferred.
- Experience integrating machine-learning models, forecasting services, optimization methods, or analytical workflows is preferred.
- Familiarity with machine-learning lifecycle concepts, including feature generation, model serving, evaluation, and monitoring, is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, automated deployment, configuration management, security, access control, auditability, and data governance is preferred.
- Experience with OCI, AWS, Azure, or another major cloud platform is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication and effective collaboration skills are required.
