Security Automation Engineer

Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, maintenance, and migration of security response automations and Splunk SOAR playbooks.
- Build agentic AI workflows covering prompt and agent design, tool integration, guardrails, output evaluation, and human review.
- Develop integrations across SIEM, EDR, threat intelligence, case management, and ITSM platforms.
- Build Python-based internal tools, services, and APIs to reduce repetitive work for security analysts.
- Administer and improve the case management platform and its supporting workflows.
- Partner with detection engineering teams to convert detections into automated response workflows.
- Use Git-based development, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
- Measure automation effectiveness and create technical documentation and runbooks.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in security engineering, security automation, or software engineering with a strong cybersecurity focus.
- Hands-on experience with SOAR or security automation platforms such as Splunk SOAR, Cortex XSOAR, Tines, or Torq.
- Experience with LLM platforms such as Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or Amazon Bedrock, including agent design, prompt design, tool use, and output evaluation.
- Knowledge of SOC operations, incident response workflows, and the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
- Strong production-level Python development experience.
- Experience developing REST API integrations, JSON-based services, webhooks, and event-driven solutions.
- Knowledge of OAuth, API keys, secrets management, and secure integration patterns.
- Experience with APIs, SDKs, and tool-use patterns for LLM-powered tools, integrations, workflows, or agents.
- Preferred experience includes autonomous or semi-autonomous agents, LLM fine-tuning, systematic evaluations, safety testing, red-teaming, Splunk Enterprise Security, SPL, detection logic, detection-as-code, ServiceNow, FastAPI, Flask, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, front-end development, or technical mentoring.
