Research Engineer-Model Efficiency (Intern)

Responsibilities
- Implement and adapt published model-efficiency methods on Bitdeer’s models and hardware.
- Develop new optimizations when existing techniques do not meet performance or quality goals.
- Work on quantization, sparsity and pruning, speculative decoding and MTP, serving-time attention, and KV-cache methods.
- Build rigorous evaluations using task-level metrics, controlled comparisons, and honest baselines.
- Own and present a well-defined project that produces a real result during the 3–6 month internship.
Requirements
- Be an undergraduate, Master's, or PhD candidate in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Commit to a 3–6 month internship, with full-time availability preferred.
- Demonstrate strong programming ability in Python and hands-on familiarity with PyTorch.
- Have coursework, self-study, or research experience in model efficiency, such as quantization, sparsity and pruning, speculative decoding, or serving-time attention and KV-cache methods.
- Understand transformer internals and practice rigorous evaluation.
- Demonstrate depth in at least one project, paper, or serious open-source contribution, including the ability to explain failures and outcomes end to end.
- Proven achievements in academics, engineering projects, open-source contributions, or programming and algorithm competitions are highly preferred.
- A formal publication record is welcome but not required.
