Base Salary
$184k - $314k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and build large-scale systems and services handling massive data volumes and complex real-time workloads.
- Extend the ClickHouse pipeline to support new filters and attributes.
- Own segmentation products from problem definition through launch, adoption, and ongoing improvement.
- Improve the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of core backend systems.
- Drive architectural direction, scope major technical efforts, and manage technical debt.
- Mentor engineers on software design, coding, and operations best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, and stakeholders on system integration and business alignment.
- Maintain alerts, on-call rotations, troubleshooting playbooks, and other operational procedures.
- Research and advocate for new technologies and system improvements.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on full-stack development or backend services work.
- Experience building high-scale, high-throughput systems and foundational data-driven systems such as streaming, real-time pipelines, or large-scale data platforms.
- A track record of delivering customer-facing products on high-scale data systems from problem definition through launch and adoption.
- Strong software design, data structures, and algorithms fundamentals.
- Experience driving architectural direction, scoping large efforts, managing technical debt, and leading major technical initiatives.
- Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in team environments.
- Preferred familiarity with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, Sidekiq, SQL databases, and NoSQL databases.
- Preferred experience with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Snowflake, or other data lake solutions.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Preferred experience with distributed systems, API design, monitoring, and related engineering practices.
