Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural guidance for internally developed applications, including scalability, maintainability, and SRE alignment.
  • Lead evaluation, selection, configuration, and integration of enterprise platforms such as EMR, CRM, PACS, and interface engines.
  • Design and govern integration architecture, API strategy, data exchange standards, and FHIR and HL7 interoperability.
  • Establish enterprise data architecture, governance, data-flow documentation, and cross-platform consistency standards.
  • Evaluate build-versus-buy decisions and provide recommendations to technology and executive leadership.
  • Maintain reference architectures, system landscape diagrams, integration maps, and architectural decision records.
  • Identify enterprise technical risks and develop mitigation strategies and remediation roadmaps.
  • Lead architectural standards and design reviews across application management, analytics, software development, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure architectural decisions address HIPAA, privacy, security, resilience, and business continuity requirements.
  • Monitor healthcare technology trends, vendor developments, and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a STEM program.
  • At least 7 years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in an architecture or principal engineering role.
  • Experience architecting and integrating enterprise platforms in complex, multi-system environments.
  • Experience with capacity planning, storage architecture, and cloud cost governance or FinOps.
  • Hands-on experience with modern application development, APIs, databases, and hybrid-cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and DevOps practices including pipeline management, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and environment monitoring.
  • Knowledge of building and guiding organizations on generative AI platforms, AI assistants, and agents.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex architecture to technical teams and non-technical executives.
  • Healthcare enterprise platform experience such as Epic, Mirth Connect, radiology systems, or comparable platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Enterprise experience with CRM and low-code/form platforms such as Salesforce and JotForm is preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, data privacy regulations, and healthcare security architecture is preferred.
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center or community health organization is a strong plus.
  • Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills are required; additional languages are an asset.
