Base Salary
$210k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the software for in-house embedded products and set technical direction.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers from schematic capture through board bring-up.
- Debug hardware/software failures using various tools and techniques.
- Ship code that operates unattended in harsh marine environments.
- Shape the OTA and fleet update strategy for distributed devices.
- Set testing and CI/CD standards for embedded code.
- Mentor other embedded engineers through code review and pairing.
- Communicate technical tradeoffs to various stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience developing production code in embedded systems.
- Deep experience with systems programming languages like Rust or C/C++.
- Hands-on experience with embedded Linux distros using Yocto or Buildroot.
- Proven track record of owning architecture and implementation from bring-up to deployment.
- Fluency with communication protocols like SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet.
- Experience designing for resource-constrained, real-time systems.
- Experience with OTA update mechanisms for fielded devices.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals including version control and CI/CD.
- A history of raising the technical bar on a team.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical backgrounds.
