Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Responsibilities
- Design and implement distributed systems, infrastructure, and APIs for Macroscope’s core services and inference platforms.
- Lead projects focused on backend scalability, reliability, performance, and architectural evolution.
- Build and operate cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability systems, and production operations.
- Develop infrastructure for LLM training, fine-tuning, inference serving, and deployment at scale.
- Partner with the ML Research team to support research, training, and inference workloads.
- Lead backend or infrastructure projects and establish engineering best practices.
- Make architectural decisions in collaboration with founders, engineers, and designers.
Requirements
- Deep experience architecting and operating distributed backend systems at scale.
- Expertise building resilient, performant, and maintainable backend services and APIs.
- Strong proficiency with cloud environments, ideally Google Cloud Platform, including networking, IAM, monitoring, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with infrastructure for LLM inference serving, fine-tuning, and training workflows.
- Experience leading backend or infrastructure projects and driving architectural decisions in high-growth engineering environments.
- Hands-on experience with SQL/Postgres databases, caching layers, and messaging systems.
- Familiarity with logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and other observability practices.
- Strong experience with Go is highly preferred.
- Experience with Temporal or similar durable execution and workflow orchestration systems is a bonus.
- Familiarity with LoRA and reinforcement learning is a plus.
- Ability to work with high agency and ownership in an early-stage startup environment.
