Responsibilities
- Architect secure, highly available, scalable AI-native applications and platforms on Google Cloud.
- Establish and champion spec-driven development practices using frameworks such as BMAD Method, OpenSpec, and GitHub Spec Kit.
- Design and deliver agentic systems with multi-agent orchestration, tool use, retrieval, Agent2Agent interoperability, Model Context Protocol integration, and governed agent gateways.
- Use AI coding agents to accelerate prototypes, research, structured experiments, and proof-of-concepts.
- Build generative AI applications with Gemini and Vertex AI, including prompt and context engineering, grounding/RAG, tool and function calling, agent design, fine-tuning, and model selection.
- Implement security and privacy controls including agent identity and access management, data loss prevention, prompt-injection and jailbreak defenses, and content and safety filtering.
- Establish evaluation harnesses, regression suites, AI observability, quality and drift monitoring, tracing, and FinOps cost visibility.
- Set engineering standards, review designs and code, mentor engineers, and partner with architecture, security, platform, and product stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of professional software engineering experience shipping production systems.
- Deep hands-on Google Cloud expertise across compute, networking, IAM, data, and AI/ML services.
- Hands-on experience building real applications with Gemini and Vertex AI, including grounding/RAG, tool or function calling, and agent development.
- Extensive experience using AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Antigravity for development, research, and proof-of-concept work.
- Proven ability to design secure, highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-efficient distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, or operating an Agent Gateway or Model Context Protocol gateway, including routing, authentication, authorization, registration, discovery, rate limiting, policy enforcement, and observability.
- Experience with spec-driven or AI-assisted software delivery frameworks.
- Expertise in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Go, TypeScript/Node, or Java, plus API design, testing, CI/CD, and Git workflows.
- Knowledge of secure SDLC, secrets management, least-privilege design, non-human identity and access management, prompt injection, data exfiltration, and model abuse.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain architecture, write specifications and design documents, and influence without authority.
- Preferred qualifications include Apigee X or equivalent gateway experience, agent platforms and reusable tooling, AI safety and governance tools, OpenTelemetry, LLM cost governance, regulated-domain experience, SAFe or scaled delivery experience, GitLab or GitHub CI/CD, Terraform, relevant Google Cloud certifications, and open-source or research contributions.
