Base Salary
$144k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop board support package software and drivers for new avionics hardware.
- Program bare-metal or operating-system-level software for hardware initialization, control, embedded data processing, and networking.
- Debug avionics spaceflight hardware using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG debuggers, and related tools.
- Participate in hardware/software partitioning, design concepts, design reviews, requirements work, and technical documentation.
- Benchmark hardware performance and deploy benchmarking code.
- Bring up and use hardware accelerators in modern SoC devices, including encryption, encoding, decoding, image-processing, and GPU-related functions.
- Develop software for interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, TCP/IP, UDP, GMSL, SpaceWire, CameraLink, Aurora, AXI, and AMBA.
- Develop boot and software-based fault-tolerance strategies.
- Perform scripting and Linux development with development kits and sensor modules.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Strong embedded software design and development skills in C, C++, or Rust, with Linux or similar scripting experience.
- Strong cross hardware/software debugging skills using tools such as GDB, XSDB, GRMON, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and Wireshark.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture, memory buses, cache, DMA, and CPU execution pipelines.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- Preferred: master’s degree or 10 or more years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: experience with space avionics or space software systems, DO-178 certification guidelines, FPGA development, hardware-accelerated functions, Matlab, Python, kernel development, and driver development.
