Base Salary
$175k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Engineer performant Rust code for ingestion and query execution.
- Optimize the system for cost and speed using memory and CPU profiling.
- Integrate the storage layer with cloud object stores including S3, GCS, and Azure Blob.
- Deploy distributed database services on Kubernetes for multi-tenant, high-throughput, and low-latency operation.
- Improve observability for the storage engine through metrics, tracing, and debugging tools.
- Design, optimize, and harden the storage system, including execution, storage layout, performance, and scaling to trillions of traces.
Requirements
- At least five years of systems or database engineering experience.
- Strong experience with a systems programming language such as Rust or C++, with Rust strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of database internals, including query engines, storage systems, indexing, and compaction, is a plus.
- Proficiency in systems performance analysis, including memory allocation, CPU hotspots, lock contention, and asynchronous runtimes.
- Experience with Kubernetes, distributed systems, and cloud object storage is a plus.
- Strong fundamentals in networking, operating system concepts, and systems debugging.
- Familiarity with similar query execution engines is a plus.
