Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate scalable production backend services in Python, including APIs and internal services.
- Build and evolve end-to-end data flows covering ingestion, validation, AI analytics, and API or product exposure.
- Ensure data correctness and traceability through versioning, lineage, retries, idempotency, and backfills.
- Improve throughput, latency, resilience, and handling of spikes and partial failures in critical flows.
- Create observability dashboards, failure-handling mechanisms, and replay or backfill utilities.
- Build and maintain connectors for energy and water time-series data and related metadata.
- Handle missing intervals, time zones and daylight-saving changes, duplicates, late-arriving data, and inconsistent schemas.
- Work with customers and partners to troubleshoot and stabilize integrations.
- Collaborate with data and ML teammates to support model deployment and feature delivery.
- Translate product requirements into robust backend implementations, workflows, and pipelines.
Requirements
- Solid production backend development experience in Python, including FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, or similar technologies.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in architecture, testing, performance, code reviews, code ownership, and reliability.
- Experience designing and operating production data flows or event-driven workflows.
- Hands-on experience with time-series data processing and validation is advantageous.
- Experience or strong interest in energy efficiency, buildings, energy monitoring, utilities, or IoT is advantageous.
- Experience with streaming or message-based systems, queues, events, or batch pipelines with backfills is advantageous.
- Cloud experience with AWS or GCP, containers, and infrastructure-as-code is advantageous.
- Experience improving operational maturity through SLOs, alerting, runbooks, and incident reviews is advantageous.
