- Develop high-performance, low-power AI system software for the Apple Neural Engine and Apple products.
- Define interfaces for internal teams and external developers, including lifecycle, error handling, and forward compatibility considerations.
- Build and ship production system software using C and C++.
- Design runtime systems involving process and thread models, memory management, IPC/RPC, and resource lifecycles.
- Develop software-hardware interfaces involving registers, DMA, command queues, and accelerator interactions.
- Build or extend ML runtimes, inference engines, or accelerator driver stacks.
- Handle multi-client runtime scenarios including hardware arbitration, priority/QoS management, client lifecycle, and crash recovery.
- Collaborate with framework, compiler, and hardware teams and provide technical leadership on design decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Deep proficiency in C and C++ for large-scale production system software.
- Experience defining interfaces used by other teams or external developers.
- Understanding of runtime systems, including processes, threads, memory management, IPC/RPC, and resource lifecycle.
- Understanding of software-hardware interfaces such as registers, DMA, and command queues.
- Experience shipping production system software.
- Preferred experience with TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, XLA, Metal, Vulkan compute, or similar ML runtime and accelerator technologies.
- Familiarity with Swift, Rust, or another memory-safe systems language.
- Familiarity with ML model compilation pipelines, graph IR, compiled binaries, and runtime/compiler interactions.
- Knowledge of neural-network inference, operator execution, tensor memory layout, pipelining, and batching strategies.
- Strong communication skills and experience working across organizational and technical team boundaries.
