Responsibilities
- Design and evolve scalable, distributed, cloud-native architectures for core platform capabilities.
- Define architectural direction and standards for large-scale data processing, query execution, distributed systems, and platform services.
- Design and implement database, storage, indexing, caching, consistency, replication, and metadata-management capabilities.
- Contribute hands-on through coding, prototypes, technical validation, and production hardening.
- Act as a technical authority across Product R&D and influence architecture across cloud infrastructure, core platform services, and data systems.
- Mentor senior engineers and elevate architectural rigor across teams.
- Translate ambiguous technical and business requirements into clear, robust, and evolvable architectural designs.
- Communicate complex system designs to engineers, product leaders, executives, and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, architectural fit, integration risk, and edge-case support.
Requirements
- Advanced education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Deep, demonstrated experience building large-scale distributed cloud systems in production.
- Extensive experience designing, implementing, and evolving database, storage, indexing, query execution, caching, consistency, replication, or metadata-management capabilities.
- Strong background in data-intensive systems such as distributed data processing, distributed databases, query engines, or platform-level data services.
- Deep expertise in cloud-native scalability, elasticity, fault tolerance, and cost-aware design.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and their core infrastructure services.
- Proficiency in Go and/or other high-performance backend languages such as C++.
- Strong understanding of system performance, concurrency, consistency models, and operational trade-offs in distributed environments.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams as a senior technical leader.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Ability to accelerate software development through innovative use of AI or other tooling while maintaining architectural consistency, secure design, and code quality.
- Experience designing platforms for AI, agentic systems, or advanced analytics at scale is preferred.
- Exposure to Data Fabric, semantic layers, or extensible platform architectures is preferred.
- Technical leadership demonstrated through internal platforms, publications, patents, or open-source contributions is preferred.
