Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-level and enterprise-level architectures for NATO modeling and simulation systems.
- Lead DIS protocol implementation and ensure compliance with applicable IEEE standards.
- Architect distributed simulation environments supporting multi-location exercises and real-time interaction among simulation nodes.
- Develop software components, APIs, middleware, and interfaces for simulation interoperability and legacy-system integration.
- Design scalable, fault-tolerant, microservices-based architectures for political-to-tactical, mission-level, and campaign-level simulations.
- Create technical specifications, architectural patterns, data synchronization mechanisms, and containerized deployment strategies.
- Lead technical architecture and code reviews.
- Optimize network performance and support real-time data exchange across distributed simulation environments.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience developing distributed simulation systems using DIS and HLA protocols within the last 5–10 years.
- At least 3 years of experience designing high-level system architectures for military simulation environments.
- Proven experience architecting real-time systems with multiple simulation nodes.
- Experience developing APIs and interfaces for simulation interoperability.
- Strong experience optimizing large-scale distributed systems and developing both mission-level and campaign-level simulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Expert knowledge of DIS and HLA standards, distributed computing, network protocols, simulation frameworks, middleware, database design, and data architecture.
- Proficiency in C++, Java, and Python.
- Preferred qualifications include NATO STANAG experience, military C4ISR integration knowledge, military simulation game-engine experience, AWS or Azure cloud architecture experience, DevOps and CI/CD pipeline experience, and PMP or technical architecture certification.
