Responsibilities
- Own a customer-facing product area end to end, from understanding user needs and deciding what to build through shipping, measurement, and iteration.
- Build frontend and backend systems and determine how products run on GPUs at scale.
- Design systems for AI-character memory, including writing, ranking, and retrieval across billions of messages within context limits.
- Own feed retrieval, ranking, cold-start strategy, experimentation, and engagement and retention measurement.
- Evaluate and deploy newly released models while balancing quality, serving cost, and performance.
- Build real-time chat, voice, image, and video experiences while managing quality, latency, cost, reliability, and scale.
- Remain accountable for the reliability, cost, and operational performance of shipped products, including on-call responsibilities.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to build an impressive technically complex product at meaningful scale or solve a difficult technical problem deeply.
- Strong product judgment, including talking to users, identifying valuable problems, and using evidence to guide product decisions.
- Ability to turn ambiguous problems into shipped products without detailed task breakdowns and own outcomes after launch.
- Rigorous and pragmatic approach to experimentation, impact, cost, and implementation choices.
- Clear, concise, data-informed communication and constructive collaboration.
- Curiosity about AI models and tools and the ability to learn quickly; deep machine-learning experience is not required.
- High standards, ambition, and willingness to take responsibility for important product areas.
- Experience may align with Staff, Principal, or Distinguished Engineer, technical leadership, former engineering leadership, or founder backgrounds; the company emphasizes demonstrated work over years of experience or a fixed technology checklist.
