Responsibilities
- Define backend architecture and technical strategy for Autonomous Vehicle customer support systems.
- Establish scalable integration patterns across Fleet, Uber for Business, Direct, and emerging businesses.
- Partner with the Customer Obsession Platform team on shared platform and Agentic AI capabilities.
- Build proactive trip-lifecycle support, reliability, and end-to-end testing strategies.
- Drive alignment across Engineering, Product, Operations, and platform teams.
- Mentor Senior engineers toward Staff-level impact.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of professional full-time software engineering experience.
- Strong expertise in Go, Java, or C++.
- Extensive backend engineering and distributed systems experience.
- Experience designing and operating large-scale, highly available systems.
- Proven technical leadership across multiple teams and complex initiatives.
- Strong system design, architecture, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Preferred: experience with Generative AI, LLMs, Agentic AI systems, Autonomous Vehicles, mobility, fleet, logistics, real-time systems, customer support platforms, or workflow platforms.
- Track record of technical leadership at Senior Staff level or equivalent scope.

- Base salary range of USD $267,000-$297,000 per year for San Francisco and Sunnyvale, California-based roles.
