Base Salary
$220k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and ship agentic product experiences, including chat-style and assistant-like interfaces, from prototype through general availability.
- Design reliable AI-system harnesses, execution flows, guardrails, and evaluations.
- Build internal AI tooling and automation to increase engineering, research, and go-to-market velocity.
- Partner with research engineers to turn internal research workflows into customer-facing features.
- Instrument evaluations to measure changes in output quality.
- Implement end-to-end features across the API layer, backend, agent orchestration, and frontend.
- Use Baseten training and inference products to understand customer workflows.
- Identify and replace manual company processes with AI-driven solutions.
- Fix bugs and resolve customer issues with urgency.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping software applications.
- Demonstrated experience building AI- or LLM-powered products, agents, or agentic workflows used by real users.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to meet a high technical bar.
- Ability to understand how systems, models, and harnesses work under the hood.
- Proficiency in Python and fluency in at least one other programming language.
- Comfort working autonomously in a fast-moving environment with limited structure.
- Ability to move between customer-facing product work and internal tooling and automation.
- Strong communication skills for bridging technical depth and business needs.
- Preferred: experience as a founding engineer or early startup employee.
- Preferred: experience building evaluations, agent observability, or tooling for non-deterministic systems.
- Preferred: familiarity with LangChain, Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and MCP.
- Preferred: experience with supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, synthetic data generation, LoRA, and full fine-tunes.
- Preferred: frontend fluency.
