- Design, build, and own operator-facing test station software, test sequence orchestration, hardware instrument control, and data logging.
- Translate electrical engineering test procedures into automated, repeatable production test sequences.
- Define and validate the interface contract between test stations and production firmware, including test modes, diagnostic hooks, and required data.
- Design firmware update and recovery processes for production environments.
- Own factory device provisioning, certification, secure boot verification, key provisioning, certificate injection, serial number assignment, and configuration locking workflows.
- Deploy and qualify test stations with contract manufacturers in Asia and debug production issues on the manufacturing floor.
- Establish test data pipelines, yield tracking, reporting, and statistical analysis for line health and process control.
- Improve test throughput, coverage, and first-pass yield using collected and analyzed production data.
- Lead a small team of test station and firmware engineers while remaining involved in technical execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in manufacturing test systems, ATE, or production software, including building and shipping production test stations at volume.
- Fluency in Python or an equivalent scripting language for test automation, instrument control, and data processing.
- Experience with DFT analysis, ICT/FCT development, EOL sequence design, fixture collaboration, and sustaining across the factory test lifecycle.
- Applied statistical analysis of factory test data to drive process decisions.
- Strong systems design skills and the ability to architect a scalable test station framework across products and manufacturing sites.
- Ability to convert electrical engineering test procedures into precise, automatable test requirements and own the requirements documentation.
- Direct on-site experience managing relationships with contract manufacturers through a contract manufacturing relationship.
- Willingness to travel to Taiwan and Asia and communicate clearly in English between Palo Alto and Taiwan.
- Embedded firmware expertise sufficient to submit direct firmware changes when needed is ideal; Mandarin or Taiwanese communication is a plus.
