Responsibilities
- Build and own the integration between Seqera Intelligent Compute and the Seqera Platform.
- Enable compute environment provisioning and workload execution across AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, HPC schedulers, and GPU-enabled infrastructure.
- Develop against cloud-provider APIs and SDKs while handling partial failures, quota errors, permission errors, and provider-specific behavior.
- Own usage metering, invoice reconciliation, billing, pay-as-you-go flows, and free-tier onboarding.
- Design consistent data models and APIs across services and releases.
- Improve error handling, testing, observability, and incident diagnosis.
- Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, product, and support teams on customer-facing systems and escalations.
- Make architecture decisions within the team’s scope and document systems for long-term maintainability.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience building and operating production backend services, including ownership of at least one service.
- Strong Java and/or Groovy experience with Micronaut, Spring Boot, or a similar framework.
- Hands-on experience using a major cloud provider’s APIs to provision and manage resources programmatically.
- Experience with Kubernetes as an execution environment for workloads.
- Experience designing REST APIs and data models and maintaining integrations across versions and failures.
- Accountability for customer-facing production systems.
- Strong focus on correctness, data integrity, independent execution, and operating effectively with ambiguity.
- Preferred experience with multiple clouds, HPC or batch schedulers, GPU workloads, billing or monetization platforms such as Metronome or Stripe, self-serve products, bioinformatics, Nextflow, scientific computing, observability tools, CI/CD ownership, Angular, or open-source contributions.
- Openness to using AI extensively in engineering work.
