Responsibilities
- Refine requirements and design, implement, unit-test, document, and integrate embedded software according to specifications and architecture.
- Develop and maintain reusable software components for other teams and departments using component-driven software development practices.
- Program in C and C++ within multithreaded embedded environments, including driver development.
- Analyze and fix build failures and software defects promptly, and maintain regular commits to the trunk.
- Apply object-oriented and procedural design, relevant modeling methods, clean-code practices, and configuration management.
- Understand embedded hardware, compiler-generated machine code, memory management, and debugging with limited resources.
- Consult the Open Source Software officer when using open-source software and stay current with technical developments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, software science, or a related university-level field.
- Experience designing software systems using object-oriented and procedural approaches.
- Experience programming in C and C++, including multithreaded environments.
- Experience analyzing and debugging software and using configuration management tools such as Subversion or Git.
- Knowledge of UML and relevant software design and modeling methods.
- Experience with component-driven software development and driver development.
- Experience using Linux and/or FreeRTOS.
- Affinity with hardware and understanding of compiler behavior, memory management, and embedded debugging with limited resources.
- Analytical, creative, and lateral-thinking approach to solving complex problems and a strong commitment to clean code.
- Willingness and ability to work at least two to three days per week at the Ovar office.
