Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex workflows, APIs, and UI backends for payment platforms.
- Scale highly available payment services targeting 99.99%+ uptime.
- Use AI coding assistants and agents for implementation, refactoring, test generation, code review, and legacy-code exploration.
- Own the quality of AI-generated output and contribute agent skills, project instructions, prompt templates, and MCP server configurations to shared tooling.
- Apply secure and responsible AI practices in a PCI DSS environment.
- Perform TDD using tools such as JUnit.
Requirements
- 9–10+ years of experience using core Java and/or J2EE and Spring.
- Knowledge of ORM solutions such as Hibernate.
- Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with JavaScript and decent frontend skills.
- Comfort with TDD/BDD practices and JUnit.
- Hands-on daily experience with AI coding assistants or agentic tools, including Claude Code, Kiro, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
- Ability to write effective prompts and specifications and critically review AI-generated code.
- Practical understanding of MCP servers and their risks, including prompt injection and over-permissioned access.
- Experience with modern API standards, SPA frontend applications, larger codebases, refactoring, and AI-assisted legacy modernization is advantageous.
- Experience creating reusable AI coding-tool instructions or workflows, building MCP servers or Java tool integrations, and integrating LLMs into Java services is advantageous.
- Knowledge of OpenSSL, mod_security, general security, Linux, AWS, Ansible, Terraform, or the payment industry is advantageous.
