Responsibilities
- Design and implement architecture for complex AI features and experiences within Snapdragon Mobile subsystems.
- Research requirements, build hands-on prototypes, and collaborate with architects, software and hardware engineers, project engineers, and product managers.
- Implement on-device agentic AI components including context and memory management, perception, sensor fusion, and heterogeneous compute placement across CPU, GPU, and NPU.
- Develop telemetry-driven resource scheduling that adapts workload placement to live power, thermal, and SLA signals.
- Implement LLM/SLM memory and model-state lifecycle management, including KV-cache and context-state caching, eviction, paging, and state reuse across sessions.
- Optimize AI throughput and efficiency by addressing memory bandwidth, data movement, power, thermal, and device-memory constraints.
- Participate in design reviews, recommend architecture improvements, collaborate with external partners, and contribute to roadmap and trend analysis.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and influence technical direction without formal authority.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years, master's degree and 7+ years, or PhD and 6+ years of relevant hardware, software, or systems engineering experience.
- Preferred experience includes 5–8 years in high-performance computing system engineering or software and 2+ years in AI system optimization.
- Strong experience with mobile software design and deployment, system software performance optimization, benchmarking, profiling, and performance breakdown analysis.
- Experience with embedded ML, agentic AI architectures, LLMs/SLMs, model deployment, scheduling, and lifecycle management on resource-constrained devices.
- Experience architecting heterogeneous or multi-processor systems and scheduling concurrent AI workloads across CPU, GPU, and NPU.
- Experience with LLM/SLM serving internals, KV-cache and model-state management, paging, eviction, and state sharing or reuse.
- Knowledge of AI frameworks, AI hardware acceleration, memory subsystems, interconnect bandwidth, sensor fusion, screen or scene understanding, and multimodal context pipelines.
- Knowledge of computer vision, audio, generative AI, mobile platforms, Android frameworks, and embedded system implementations.
- Proficiency in C, C++, and Python; familiarity with TypeScript, Java, and Kotlin is a plus.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering is preferred, along with strong software engineering, communication, analytical, debugging, and mentoring skills.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies, version control systems, and agile project management practices is preferred.
Benefits
- Annual base pay range is $223,600.00–$335,400.00, with a discretionary bonus program and potential annual RSU grants.
- Qualcomm offers a competitive benefits package supporting employees at work, at home, and at play.
- The role is based on the location associated with the posted Qualcomm job code; specific work-arrangement details are not stated.

About Qualcomm
Qualcomm is a public semiconductor company headquartered in San Diego, founded in 1985, that designs and sells wireless chipsets and platforms for mobile devices, automotive, IoT, and networking, notably the Snapdragon application processors and 5G modems. It also licenses a large portfolio of cellular patents to device makers, generating revenue alongside chip sales; its technology underpins many Android smartphones and emerging automotive and edge-compute systems, and it trades on NASDAQ as QCOM.
