Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain ZDLRA features and enhancements in C and PL/SQL on Linux.
- Develop systems software involving buffers, caches, memory management, storage, file systems, I/O, networking, concurrency, and distributed processing.
- Translate requirements into designs, tasks, milestones, and documented technical trade-offs.
- Investigate complex defects from customer deployments, reproduce failures, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes.
- Diagnose CPU, memory, storage, I/O, networking, performance, and scalability bottlenecks using diagnostic and profiling tools.
- Design and implement functional, boundary-condition, regression, concurrency, failure, and recovery tests.
- Use shell scripting and automation for diagnostics, issue reproduction, testing, and repeatable development tasks.
- Take assigned work through analysis, design, implementation, review, testing, integration, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with engineering and database teams in India and the US on cross-component issues and shared product objectives.
- Participate in design and code reviews and document implementation, troubleshooting, and engineering guidance.
- Use LLMs and AI coding agents while independently validating their output for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
- Provide technical guidance, mentor colleagues, and contribute to engineering practice improvements as product expertise grows.
Requirements
- Strong experience with C, Linux, and systems programming.
- Practical knowledge of database internals, storage, distributed systems, or other demanding enterprise software.
- Strong algorithms, data structures, systems fundamentals, and ability to design reliable production software.
- Ability to investigate defects systematically, diagnose performance issues, and reason about memory, concurrency, synchronization, and recovery behavior.
- Prior Oracle Database, RMAN, PL/SQL, or backup and recovery product experience is advantageous.
- Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate across teams, document technical decisions, and provide technical guidance.
- Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated code and engineering suggestions.
