Responsibilities
- Design, implement, integrate, and document real-time embedded software for vehicle applications using C/C++ and MATLAB-autogenerated code.
- Create vehicle-level designs, provide feedback on system requirements, and ensure software meets functionality, memory, performance, and maintainability requirements.
- Develop and integrate advanced vehicle control strategies using embedded software, model-based development, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop tools.
- Support verification, validation, prototype, pilot, production, vehicle testing, and production implementation activities.
- Conduct research and development involving RTOS, AUTOSAR, embedded systems, IoT, edge computing, and architecture virtualization.
- Lead or direct feasibility studies, project estimates, technical proposals, decision analysis, and project planning.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, business support disciplines, suppliers, external customers, and industry organizations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to entry-level and lower-level engineers.
- Create and maintain software designs, methodology, procedures, reports, test plans, milestones, and related engineering documentation.
- Travel to off-site locations as necessary to support assigned engineering tasks.
Requirements
- Accredited bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Five or more years of related experience.
- Experience with embedded software development in C/C++ and MATLAB-autogenerated code.
- Ability to work with real-time operating systems, AUTOSAR, embedded software tools, model-based development, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop systems.
- Ability to create and interpret software designs in UML and follow version control, change control, issue tracking, verification, and validation practices.
- Preferred education includes a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering.
- Preferred familiarity with JavaScript, JSON, Python, and SQL databases in addition to embedded C/C++.
- Ability to lead technical work, make significant decisions, plan under changing conditions, and mentor engineers with limited supervision.
