Responsibilities
- Prepare technical design specifications and written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Review functional requirements, analysis documents, and design documents.
- Implement, test, maintain, support, and enhance software based on technical specifications.
- Lead architecture, design, and implementation of robust, highly scalable web services.
- Maintain existing codebases, conduct peer code reviews, and participate in architecture and code reviews.
- Identify system-quality issues and improvement opportunities, and develop standard operating procedures.
- Investigate and apply relevant new technologies.
- Lead or participate in projects and guide technical direction for SaaS products.
- Mentor less experienced developers and lead the work of others within projects.
- Assist customer support with technical problems and questions.
- Collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders to implement technical designs.
- Make independent technical decisions and balance short- and long-term product goals.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments.
- At least 10 years of experience with Java Enterprise Edition.
- At least 8 years of experience developing mission-critical, low-latency solutions for large business environments.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and debugging distributed systems and working with cloud-based big-data systems.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture principles, preferably implemented in Java.
- Strong experience leading architecture, design, and implementation of scalable web services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, CI/CD DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- Understanding of unit testing, test-driven development, functional testing, and performance testing.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems and data architecture.
- Knowledge of shell scripting and software security-enhancing tools and practices.
- Ability to lead technical work, mentor developers, communicate effectively, and operate across business, product, architecture, and implementation levels.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master's degree is a plus.
- Experience with React, Pulsar, Snowflake, big-data technologies, or machine learning is preferred.
