Base Salary

$79k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and build hypervisor and host-side software for secure, isolated multi-tenant virtual machines.
  • Enable and optimize OCI compute platforms across Intel, AMD, and Arm hardware.
  • Develop live-migration capabilities for maintenance and hardware lifecycle events with minimal disruption.
  • Design fault-tolerant systems supporting in-service updates, automatic recovery, safe rollback, and high availability.
  • Investigate complex issues spanning hypervisors, guest VMs, host operating systems, hardware, networking, and storage.
  • Build automated validation, performance, stress, fault-injection, and compatibility testing.
  • Instrument services with telemetry, dashboards, alerts, and runbooks for operational detection and recovery.
  • Participate in operational support rotations, incident response, root-cause analysis, and follow-up improvements.
  • Build security capabilities for workload isolation and platform integrity, including hardened firmware and Shielded Instances.
  • Develop deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, configuration-management, and safe-rollout tooling.
  • Collaborate with hardware vendors and partner engineering teams to qualify server platforms and deliver compute features.
  • Document designs and operational procedures, share knowledge, and deliver work with increasing independence.

Requirements

  • Experience with systems programming, operating systems, virtualization, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or performance engineering is especially relevant.
  • Ability to work on low-level systems software involving hardware, virtualization, performance, security, correctness, and availability.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve complex cross-layer infrastructure issues.
  • Ability to balance feature development, operational commitments, technical debt, and customer impact.
