Base Salary
$143k - $304k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement distributed systems delivering security-focused improvements and mitigations, including telemetry, reproducibility, governance, automated validations, and safety gates.
- Set engineering direction for adversarial testing, model evaluation, risk measurement, and secure deployment services and tooling.
- Ensure security mitigations and architectural changes meet high standards for availability, reliability, security, performance, and scalability.
- Drive threat modeling, observability, automation, simplification, reusable patterns, and platform approaches across Microsoft's AI ecosystem.
- Partner with security researchers, red teams, applied scientists, Responsible AI, platform engineering, product teams, and PM/TPM partners.
- Represent Copilot Security Engineering in architecture reviews, risk assessments, and cross-team security initiatives.
- Communicate technical strategy, progress, risks, and results to leadership and partner teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and at least 6 years of technical engineering experience with coding.
- Equivalent experience may substitute for the stated education and experience requirements.
- Coding experience with one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree with 8+ years of experience or a bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience.
- Experience building or operating security-critical systems, evaluation frameworks, or platform services is preferred.
- Familiarity with adversarial testing, AI/ML evaluation, telemetry pipelines, or secure-by-design engineering practices is preferred.
- Experience partnering with applied science, security research, red teams, or Responsible AI stakeholders is preferred.
- Proven ability to influence cross-organizational partners and align engineering execution with product and risk priorities is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical strategy to senior leadership, are preferred.
