Responsibilities
- Implement, test, and maintain low-level radio firmware drivers for wireless SoCs.
- Optimize firmware for performance, energy efficiency, resource utilization, and reliability.
- Integrate radio drivers into wireless protocol stacks.
- Develop and maintain firmware for IC simulation, production testing, lab evaluation, qualification, and characterization.
- Implement and maintain automated regression tests for radio firmware.
- Troubleshoot firmware, software, and architectural issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and application notes.
- Manage assigned tasks, report progress, and identify project risks.
- Collaborate across teams on datasheets, architectural specifications, and development plans.
Requirements
- Industry experience developing embedded software for ARM or DSP cores.
- Experience with resource-constrained, real-time embedded environments.
- Strong C and Python programming skills.
- Assembly language experience with at least one microcontroller family.
- Experience across the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Proficiency with logic analyzers, debug probes, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and related electronics bench equipment.
- Knowledge or experience with low-level drivers, wireless protocol stacks, Bluetooth, Thread, Zigbee, MAC and PHY techniques, software-defined radio, digital communication theory, DSP theory, or MATLAB is desirable.
- Familiarity with GCC, GDB, Make, CMake, hardware description languages, test automation, wireless communications test equipment, and chip commercialization flows is desirable.
- Understanding of hardware/software trade-offs and experience specifying hardware requirements with hardware engineers is desirable.
- Strong mathematical fundamentals and excellent written and oral English communication skills.
- Published scientific or technical articles or conference presentations are desirable.
