Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and optimize machine learning and deep learning models for hospital operations and patient-care challenges.
- Build and optimize data ingestion and modeling pipelines and contribute to technical architecture and design.
- Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, clinicians, hospital administrators, and other stakeholders to develop high-impact ML solutions.
- Work with large-scale structured and unstructured healthcare datasets, including EHRs, operational data, clinical notes, and imaging.
- Protect sensitive hospital data and adhere to healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR.
- Assess model performance, train and tune multiple models, and conduct A/B tests.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve deployed models using MLOps practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and data scientists in healthcare-focused machine learning techniques.
- Write technical architecture and design documents and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a related field with 7 or more years of experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python or R and proficiency with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
- Experience designing and deploying machine learning models end to end in healthcare or similar settings.
- Expertise in NLP, computer vision, or other specialized machine learning techniques applicable to healthcare.
- Ability to work with very large and non-standard datasets, including class-imbalanced data and sparse matrices.
- Proficiency writing complex SQL queries and developing Python packages.
- Experience with cloud-based management and hosting technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCS, CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
- Experience with database management systems such as Oracle, MSSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, DynamoDB, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with version control software such as Git, Mercurial, CVS, TFS, or Subversion.
- Knowledge of healthcare workflows, hospital operations, healthcare-specific ML challenges, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, oral communication, presentation, stakeholder-influence, and follow-through skills.
- Preferred: master’s or PhD in computer science, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a related field with 5 or more years of experience.
