Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Establish requirements for hardware-in-the-loop simulation platforms.
- Select or design interface hardware that simulates spacecraft actuators, sensors, and payloads.
- Develop simulation software models and interfaces for digital, analog, serial, and SpaceWire hardware cards.
- Define simulation testbed harnessing based on flight harnesses and simulation requirements.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to design, build, and test simulation platforms.
- Implement software control of simulation platform test equipment.
- Develop and execute simulation certification loop-back testing.
- Integrate components and flight software with simulation platforms.
- Use oscilloscopes, breakout boxes, multimeters, and interface analyzers for debugging and problem resolution.
- Prepare design documentation, analysis, test results, and presentation materials.
- Support a NASA space science mission in a collaborative small-team environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or another related STEM discipline with 8 years of embedded software experience, or a master’s degree with 6 years, or a PhD with 4 years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information; U.S. citizenship is required.
- Diverse programming experience with C/C++, Python, and Windows/Linux scripting.
- Experience with software revision control tools such as Subversion and Git.
- Understanding of waterfall, spiral, and/or Agile software development processes and continuous integration.
- Strong communication skills, technical documentation ability, and experience working in small teams.
- Preferred experience includes spacecraft command and control, mission planning, space situational awareness and visualization, hardware interfacing, integration and test, controls, embedded tools, real-time operating systems, avionics integration, closed-loop simulations, Linux development, National Instruments hardware/software, and digital, analog, RS-422, UART, MIL-STD-1553, and SpaceWire interfaces.
- Preferred candidates may have an active TS clearance, experience with Jenkins, Jira, Bitbucket, DevSecOps tools, and leading cross-departmental teams.
