Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain Python/Django applications, reusable libraries, REST APIs, and supporting JavaScript, HTML, and CSS components.
Lead end-of-life Python and Django upgrades by assessing dependencies, refactoring deprecated APIs, testing across environments, coordinating consuming teams, and publishing migration and rollback guidance.
Build, validate, package, and distribute Python runtimes from source when approved installers are unavailable, including checksum, test-suite, pip, virtual-environment, and artifact-repository compatibility validation.
Modernize shared Django infrastructure libraries with Python 3.12+ compatibility, automated tests, versioning, deprecation paths, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and coordinated adoption.
Implement and troubleshoot PIV, SSO, authentication, authorization, secure sessions, role mapping, and permission systems using the listed identity technologies.
Connect Django applications securely to Oracle, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, and other approved data sources through password-lookup and secrets-management services.
Apply application-security controls including Content Security Policy, XSS/CSRF protections, HSTS, secure headers and cookies, dependency remediation, and penetration-test finding remediation.
Serve as a technical escalation point, troubleshoot production issues, document solutions, mentor developers, and collaborate with application, DevTools/DevOps, security, database, and NIH CIT teams.

Experience with Git and the Gitflow workflow.
Experience reading SQL and using relational database management systems.
Experience working in continuous integration and continuous deployment environments.
Experience with automated testing.
Experience with JavaScript development beyond jQuery.
Experience using core AWS components including EC2, Bastion, RDS, and S3.
