Front End Engineer - React/NextJS

Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of responsive, scalable front-end UI architecture for micro frontends.
- Develop and maintain React and Next.js modules and interfaces for Ford’s eCommerce products.
- Own the overall development and delivery of one or more eCommerce micro frontend modules.
- Collaborate with front-end and backend architects to translate designs and requirements into implementation plans.
- Work with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver user-focused interfaces.
- Lead and mentor UI developers, provide technical guidance, and promote engineering best practices.
- Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and documentation to communicate UI concepts.
- Integrate UI components with backend services and APIs.
- Test and debug UI issues across browsers and devices and maintain more than 80% code coverage.
- Research existing application footprints, recommend future architecture solutions, and build proofs of concept using emerging technologies.
- Improve Ford’s commerce platform capabilities, scalability, team autonomy, and delivery processes.
- Design and implement flexible front-end solutions using MACH architecture principles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of software development experience with proficiency in one or more programming languages such as React, JavaScript, or Java.
- 5+ years of experience leading teams that build customer-facing, browser-based applications.
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- 2+ years of experience working on teams that design, build, and scale internal and external APIs.
- Strong understanding of service-oriented and microservices architectures.
- Experience with highly scalable applications and JavaScript design and architectural patterns.
- Knowledge of MACH architecture, including microservices, API-first, cloud-native, and headless principles.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
