Responsibilities
- Implement and manage SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets to drive reliability improvements.
- Develop resilient systems targeting 99.9%+ uptime for critical services.
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and blameless post-incident reviews.
- Automate incident detection and response with runbooks and predefined workflows.
- Write software to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
- Design and implement observability for tracing, metrics, and logging.
- Perform capacity planning, forecasting, and performance testing as systems scale.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams on reliable, scalable, high-performance services.
- Apply infrastructure design, deployment, and maintenance best practices using cloud and orchestration tools.
- Drive Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Pulumi, or similar tools.
- Participate in chaos engineering initiatives, advanced metric alerting, anomaly detection, and the on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience as an SRE in cloud-based and on-premises environments.
- Deep understanding of Linux systems, networking, and systems administration.
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and container orchestration tools.
- Hands-on experience with Honeycomb, Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, ELK/Elastic Stack, or Loki.
- Strong production programming skills in Python or Go and shell scripting skills using Bash or similar.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry or other distributed tracing systems integrating traces, metrics, and logs.
- Experience with chaos engineering tools or platforms such as Chaos Mesh, Chaos Monkey, or AWS Fault Injection Simulator.
- Understanding of SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, incident management, postmortems, root cause analysis, deployment strategies, and resiliency patterns.
- Preferred experience with distributed systems, statistical analysis applied to metrics, high-performance or low-latency systems, on-call engineering, production code, and chaos engineering initiatives.
