Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues using Agile ways of working.
  • Develop, debug, and test real-time 5G base-station and Layer 2 software features.
  • Develop command-line, web-based, log-analysis, and software-management tools.
  • Apply AI/ML methods and signal processing to 5G simulations and feature verification.
  • Develop automated 5G test cases and test tools and perform feature and integration testing on 5G lab equipment.
  • Build analytics APIs and data pipelines to track 5G feature performance.
  • Generate test data for design validation and investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve testing and test-environment issues.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree full-time at an accredited four-year college or university during the co-op.
  • Academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Programming experience with one or more of Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C, C++, Perl, Spring Boot, or HTML/CSS.
  • For Data Science roles, proficiency with pandas, NumPy, SciPy, statsmodels, and time-series analysis is preferred.
  • For Analytics/API roles, experience with FastAPI, Flask, or similar REST API frameworks is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Gerrit, GitHub, Jenkins, Django, Angular, HTTP, RESTful frameworks, databases, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, LTE, or 5G wireless protocols is an asset.
  • Minimum 2.7 GPA or equivalent, unofficial transcript submission, English communication skills, and availability to work 40 hours per week.
  • Candidates should be collaborative, self-directed, organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable.

  • 8–16 month co-op placement in Ottawa, Ontario, starting January 4, 2027.
  • Competitive hourly compensation varies by degree level: $25.5–$34.5 CAD for bachelor's students, $37 CAD for master's students, and $41 CAD for PhD students.
