Base Salary
$205k - $265k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead technical design discussions and produce clear design documents.
- Drive implementation of large features.
- Develop host-managed SMR support for the storage platform and optimize throughput and costs.
- Shape coding methodologies and best practices.
- Reliably support customer data storage for B2 Object Storage and Computer Backup products.
Requirements
- 10+ years of enterprise object-oriented programming experience, with a heavy focus on backend development, using technologies such as Java, Rust, C++, or C#.
- Experience building host-managed SMR support for storage systems.
- Experience benchmarking IO performance and resolving bottlenecks.
- Experience building large-scale software systems running on thousands of servers.
- Professional experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Gemini, Cursor, or Claude Code.
- Comfort with software design, implementation, testing, rollout, and the full software development lifecycle.
- Bonus: experience improving CPU and IO performance, familiarity with hard drive performance and optimization, experience building or interpreting models, dashboards, or reports, and understanding of Linux internals and file systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and interpersonal skills.
