Responsibilities
- Provide embedded software designs for project-specific electronics systems and deliver them to agreed customer deadlines.
- Deliver embedded software that meets performance, reliability, quality, cost, innovation, and service-level requirements.
- Ensure software designs comply with applicable industry, EU, design, quality, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Adopt and continuously improve embedded software standards and best practices.
- Perform fault analysis, unit and integration testing, factory acceptance testing, site testing, and commissioning.
- Apply test procedures, change control, and version control.
- Report Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment, or Human Resources issues to the Engineering Manager.
Requirements
- Substantial embedded software design experience in a relevant electronics business.
- Degree-level education in Software Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent level.
- Knowledge of the rail industry and associated standards is advantageous.
- Understanding of embedded software design using C/C++, C#, Visual Studio, CE 5.0 and CE 6.0, .NET, MFC, Visual Basic, ARM9, 8051, PIC, x86, SQL, Assembler, and RTOS.
- Web application design experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS is desirable.
- Strong technical ability, logical problem-solving, innovation, organization, communication, customer focus, and commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Ability to deliver within planned timescales, cost constraints, and quality standards, with full compliance with design, quality, and HSE regulations.
